Grand Rapids born and raised. Eleven years in construction before I ever sold a house.
I'm Jordan Hess, a licensed real estate agent with Pemberton RE, and I've lived in Grand Rapids my whole life. This isn't a market I studied — it's the one I grew up in.
Before real estate, I spent eleven years in construction. That background matters more than it sounds like it should. When I walk through a home with you, I'm not just looking at paint and layout — I'm looking at the framing, the roofline, the foundation, the stuff that actually costs money later. If something's a real problem versus just cosmetic, I can usually tell you on the spot instead of waiting on an inspector to find out for you.
I work alongside Bridger Hopkins, who a lot of people in this area already know — he handles our Seller Strategy Sessions, and between the two of us we cover both sides of a move: buying in, and selling out.
Who I work with
Most of my clients fall into one of two groups: people buying their first home, and people relocating to Grand Rapids from somewhere else entirely. Both groups have the same core need — someone who explains things instead of assuming you already know them, and who treats the move as more than just a transaction.
If you're just starting to think about buying, or you're moving here from somewhere you've never lived, a Buyer Strategy Session is the place to start — no pressure, just a real conversation about what you actually need to know before you look at a single listing.
