Why I Became a Realtor: My Story

Most of what I post here is about the market and the buying or selling process. This time I wanted to slow down and share a little more about who I am, since I think it helps to know the person you're trusting with one of the biggest decisions you'll make.

Before real estate, I spent 11 years in construction, working concrete and carpentry. There's something I loved about building things with my hands and understanding exactly how a house goes together, from the foundation up. That background still shapes how I look at every property today. When I walk through a home, I'm not just seeing finishes, I'm noticing framing, foundation work, and the kind of details a lot of agents simply aren't trained to catch.

In 2023, everything in my life changed when I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I went through 12 rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, and in 2025 I beat it. I don't share that for sympathy, I share it because it's part of how I ended up here. After a fight like that, my body wasn't strong enough to go back to the physical demands of construction. But I still wanted to build something and still wanted to help people, just in a different way.

Real estate turned out to be exactly that. Instead of building homes, I get to help people find them, and my construction background gives me a genuine edge in doing that well. Today I'm part of the Bridge Out Ahead team with Bridger Hopkins at Pemberton Real Estate. I specialize in first-time homebuyers, because I remember how overwhelming that first purchase can feel and I love walking people through it step by step, but I'm just as happy to work with any buyer, wherever you are in your journey.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me fishing or hunting, or out on a dirt bike or motorcycle whenever I get the chance. Getting outside and staying active means a lot more to me now than it used to.
